Gov. Josh Stein spins Iryna's Lawinto a debate about gun control |
![]() |
|
Can you image the conversation between Gov. Josh Stein and his staff during the 10 days he waited before signing Iryna's law? Day 1: Stein: Has the political winds changed on crime in our cities? Staff: No sir, they have not. Day 2: Stein: Has the wind changed yet? Staff: No, sir not yet. Day 3: How's the wind today? Staff: Same as it's been for a long time, sir. This dialogue between Gov. Stein and his staff likely continued this way for days until he finally realized that wind was not going to blow in his direction. So what does he do? He turns the conversation into a debate about gun control. |
Rumors circulate about North Carolina's congressional districtsbeing redrawn--again. |

Be careful what you wish for. Apparently, the left leaning non profit public policy organization, Carolina Forward, started a social media rumor that Senate President Pro tem Phil Berger contacted President Donald Trump and asked him for his endorsement in exchange for redrawing North Carolina's congressional districts to add more Republicans. Carolina Forward made the claim on their X account. In his response, Senator Berger said that he has not been in contact with President Trump, however he is open to redrawing the maps again this year if necessary! Senator Berger's response sent Gov. Josh Stein into a panic. "We cannot get into this maximalist political power worldview because it will destroy this country,” Gov. Stein said after a Council of State Meeting in September. After hearing Berger's response, it's likely that Gov. Stein contacted Carolina Forward and begged them not to give Berger any ideas. After Republicans won the majority in the General Assembly, in 2010, with maps drawn by the Democrats, they had redraw the map four times because of leftist lawsuits in 2017, two lawsuits in 2019, and another lawsuit in 2023. The Democrat effort to redraw maps via the courts became known as "Sue until Blue." |

The Schumer Shutdown
This week Democrats forced a government shutdown because Republicans refused to give them $1.5 trillion in new partisan spending.
House Republicans did our job. We passed a clean, responsible bill to keep the lights on, protect veterans and seniors, and continue the budget process. Democrats responded with a ransom note disguised as a funding bill—packed with giveaways for illegal immigrants, bailouts for Biden’s failed health care policies, and cuts to rural hospitals.
Every paycheck missed, every service delayed, and every family harmed is the direct result of Democrats choosing politics over responsibility. I came to Congress to fight for North Carolina families, not bankroll Washington games. Republicans remain ready to reopen the government with a clean resolution—it’s time for Senate Democrats to do their jobs. |
Help Wanted:D10 Veteran to assist with NC veteran casework |
|
I’m proud to announce that my Hickory District Office is looking for a veteran or Gold Star Family member to join our team through the Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program. This person will help with veterans-related casework and be a direct link between constituents and the support they need.
Having served myself, I understand the challenges veterans face transitioning back to civilian life and the sacrifices Gold Star Families carry every day. This program is about taking that experience and using it to continue serving—helping families across Western North Carolina access the care and resources they deserve.
