Motion to Censure Senator Thom Tillis fails
during FCGOP Central Committee meeting

Because of an error on a motion to denounce U.S. Senator Thom Tillis for his refusal to support President Donald Trump’s nominee for U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia, the item failed reconsideration due to lack of a second.
The Forsyth County GOP held its monthly Central Committee meeting, last week, during which a written motion was offered to censure Senator Tillis for opposing President Trump nominee, Ed Martin, for U.S. Attorney.
At first, the motion was properly offered and seconded. However, during the debate one of the members pointed out that the motion asked for the “Executive Committee” to reprimand the senator, not the “Central Committee.” The motion was then withdrawn because of the error.
Another member, however, offered a motion to reintroduce the item with a correction of the error. The motion failed because of lack of a second.
Three county GOP organizations, within the 10th District, recently voted unanimously to reprimand Senator Tillis for his open opposition to President Trump—Catawba, Iredell, and Lincoln counties. Senator Tillis was also censured by state delegates during the 2023 NCGOP State Convention because of his support of the Defense of Marriage Act, which recognizes same sex marriage.
Forsyth County is the fourth local GOP organization to address the issue. There has been no word from Yadkin County.

School Board member Robert Barr calls for the Termination of the Superintendent

Robert Barr
he Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System budget crisis has all eyes focused upon the Forsyth County School Board.
Early in May, the school board announced that the school system was faced with a $16 million deficit. However on Friday before Memorial Day weekend, the administration announced that it has actually overspent its budget by $42 million.
Shortly after the announcement of the $16 million shortfall, Superintendent Tricia McManus announced her retirement and Chief Financial Officer Thomas Krans resigned.
The office of State Auditor Dave Boliek has already begun its investigation to determine where and how the Forsyth County School administration directed the money.
Below is an portion of the statement given by Republican School Board member Robert Barr about the budget crisis and the retirement of the school superintendent.
"Our audit for the 2023-24 school year showed that we were 16 million over budget. Money was moved from our fund balance without board approval. Now we come into the 2024-2025 School Year with the following scenario: we first heard a rift of $8 million, and then 13 million, and then $16 million, and now $42 million.
Somewhere in all of this mix, a letter was sent on April 21 from the state auditor saying the district was being investigated. The letter was addressed to the board chair and the superintendent, and later copied to our attorney.
And I learned of this letter from social media. Then I confirmed, with the state auditor, that they were actually investigate the school system's finances.
I'm hearing that vendors have not been paid and I'm wondering if we are current on our pension, 401K payment, and unemployment insurance.
Our CFO was allowed resign, he should've been terminated. And our superintendent should not be allowed to retire, but terminated."
Catawba County GOP enjoys
a Night of Bowling

By Ben Devine,
Catawba County GOP Chair
The month of May has certainly been busy for Catawba County.
At our monthly meeting, the executive committee voted unanimously to send a letter of condemnation to Senator Thom Tillis regarding his current voting patterns. The letter has received a lot of positive feedback from voters in Catawba County.
This past Wednesday we hosted our annual Family Bowling Night, which saw around fifty attendees, including several new faces. The event has successfully helped us connect with new people in the community and foster camaraderie among current members.
Throughout June, Catawba County will vet candidates for the upcoming municipal elections before filing begins in July. Additionally, we will host one of our most significant fundraisers.

RECLAIMING AMERICA’S EDGE IN DRONE WARFARE
As a Green Beret and member of the House Armed Services Committee, I know firsthand what it means to face an enemy with better gear and more of it. Right now, that’s exactly where we stand on the battlefield when it comes to drones.
China spent $29.4 billion on drones last year, Ukraine built 4 million during a war, and the U.S. produced fewer than 50,000, a gap that puts much more than our troops at risk.
hat is why I’m proposing SkyFoundry, a bold initiative to establish a government-owned, American-made drone manufacturing pipeline built for speed, scale, and lethality. Our warfighters need it, and our national security depends on it.
THE ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL
PASSES THE HOUSE
Last week, I voted to pass H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill, a landmark America First package that delivers the largest tax cut in U.S. history, secures our border, and removes fraudsters from the taxpayer dime.
We spent the night on the House floor to get this done. The result is a bill that protects 500,000 taxpayers in NC-10 from a crushing 27% tax hike, guarantees the full Child Tax Credit for nearly 100,000 families, and keeps over 46,000 small businesses from being hit with a 43% tax rate. It fully funds the wall, mandates deportations, ends taxpayer-funded gender procedures for minors, and removes illegal immigrants from Medicaid rolls.
